Clustering and Prioritizing Behavior of Managers in Strengthening Staff Extra-Role Behavior

Abstract

The present study is done aims to prioritize and cluster the behavior of managers in strengthening extra-role behavior of social workers of Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation in Khorasan Razavi Province. By using simple random sampling of social workers of this institution, 207 questionnaires were analyzed through two-step cluster analysis (Hierarchical Clustering Analysis and K-Means) and using SPSS statistical software. Nine behavioral themes which were prioritized and clustered includes managers’ supportive, trust oriented, committed, tolerance oriented, respectful, virtue oriented, benevolent, fair and empowering behavior. In hierarchical cluster analysis, viewpoints of social workers about the behavior of managers in strengthening the social workers extra-role behavior were divided into four clusters and then, 28 city of the province were placed in these four clusters according to viewpoints of social workers by using K-Means analysis and finally, nine types of managers’ behaviors were prioritized in the whole province. The results showed that the first cluster is the largest one in terms of frequency and most of province cities are in this cluster. This cluster gives a great importance to virtue oriented, fair and committed behaviors of manager. Finally, a behavioral model is presented to these foundation’s managers based on the applied prioritization and clustering.
